As a Principal Consultant at Capability Wise, Matthew Prouse plays a key role in linking government agencies, policymakers, advisors, business owners, and software developers with the opportunities of the digital economy. From his base in Melbourne, Matthew applies his deep expertise to support both established and emerging pre-IPO technology companies, advising on digital strategy, government relations, and service design.

Matthew's work is centered around enhancing the integration of compliance, technology, and system development, aiming to create more streamlined processes across various levels of the business and governmental landscape. His approach is characterized by a commitment to practical solutions and a clear understanding of the digital economy's challenges and opportunities.

Matthew's career includes a significant tenure at Xero, where he joined the cloud accounting firm in its early stages, contributing to the creation and rollout of pivotal projects such as Xero Tax, Single Touch Payroll, and various COVID-19 support initiatives. His work at Xero spanned several domains including product development, strategy, and policy, helping to expand the company's footprint in Australia and Asia.

Since 2016, Matthew has been an active director of Digital Service Providers Australia New Zealand (DSPANZ), currently serving as its President for the 2023-24 term. This association advocates for the interests of software developers in the fields of tax, accounting, and payroll, among others. Matthew's involvement extends to significant contributions in developing and refining the ATO DSP Operational Security Framework, co-authoring industry standards for security, and representing the tech and small business sectors in discussions with government entities and tax authorities across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia.

Matthew is a co-author of the Security Standard for Addon Marketplaces (SSAM) and theData Minimisation & Retention: Best Practice Guidance for Australian Digital Service Providers.
